ServicesDuctless Mini-Splits
Ductless Mini-Splits in Garfield, WA
We install and repair ductless mini-splits for the rooms your furnace never quite reaches, plus older houses that have no ducts at all. You get a free estimate, a written quote, an install date we expect to keep and a call from us if anything shifts.

Heating and cooling without running ducts
A mini-split pairs an outdoor heat pump with one or more slim indoor units mounted on a wall or ceiling. A small bundle of refrigerant line, drain tube and wiring passes through a hole about three inches across. Each indoor unit has its own remote, so you can heat the bedroom without heating the whole house.
It is often the right call for an addition, a converted garage, a finished attic or a farmhouse that has always relied on baseboard heat or a wood stove. Modern cold-climate units keep making heat on the coldest Palouse nights, then cool the same rooms in July. If your home already has good ducts, a central system from our Heat Pumps or AC Installation pages may suit you better, and we will tell you so.
We plan the work around your week. You know the arrival window, roughly how long we will be there and what happens if a part runs late.
What our mini-split work includes
- Sizing each room on its own
- Before we recommend equipment, we check the floor area, window space, insulation and which way the room faces. A head that is too big cycles on and off and leaves the air damp, so we match capacity to how much heat the room really gains and loses.
- Indoor unit placement
- We pick spots where air can reach the whole room and the line set can run cleanly outside. You see the plan and approve it before we drill anything.
- Outdoor unit set up for winter
- The condenser goes on a pad or wall bracket raised above typical snow depth, with room to drain during defrost cycles.
- Startup and charge check
- We pull a vacuum on the lines, check for leaks, confirm the refrigerant charge and test heating and cooling before we pack up.
- Repairs on existing systems
- We clean clogged coils, clear drain lines and track down error codes on mini-splits already in your home. You hear what we found and what it will take before we fix anything.
- Rebate paperwork
- A mini-split is a type of heat pump, which means it may qualify for Avista rebates and federal tax credits. When your equipment is eligible, we walk you through the claim and help with the forms.
Signs a mini-split could help your home
One room never feels right
A bonus room over the garage or a back bedroom that runs hot in summer and cold in winter usually sits too far from the furnace.
Space heaters every winter
If plug-in heaters or baseboards run for months, a mini-split can heat the same room using far less electricity.
New space with no ducts
Additions, shop apartments and garage conversions rarely have a practical way to tie into existing heat.
Window units each summer
Hauling window AC units in and out every year gets old. A wall-mounted head is quieter and leaves the window free.
Your mini-split is acting up
Weak airflow, water dripping from the indoor unit, a musty smell or a flashing light on the head all mean it needs a look.
How a mini-split job runs
- 1
A call and a set arrival window
Tell us about the rooms and how you use them. We schedule the visit with a clear arrival window and call if we are running behind.
- 2
Walkthrough and written quote
We look at each room, the wall where lines will exit and the spot for the outdoor unit. Estimates are free on installations and replacements. Nothing gets ordered or drilled until you have read and approved a written quote.
- 3
Install day
We confirm the morning of, lay down floor protection and keep drilling dust contained. A single-zone install is usually finished in one day, while a multi-zone system may take two. If equipment arrives late, you hear from us before the day, not on your doorstep.
- 4
Startup and handoff
We run the system in both modes, show you the remote and how to rinse the filters, then clean up and haul off the packaging.

What moves the price of a mini-split
Every quote depends on your home and how many rooms you want to heat and cool. Equipment, materials and labor each get their own line, so nothing is buried in one lump total. If the visit turns up something that changes the plan, we explain it before any work starts.
- Number of zones
- One outdoor unit can run one indoor head or several. More heads mean more equipment, line set and labor.
- Indoor unit style
- Wall-mounted heads cost the least to install. Ceiling cassettes and floor consoles take more time and different parts.
- Line set length and access
- A short run straight through an exterior wall is simple. Longer runs to an upstairs room or around a finished space add material and hours.
- Cold-climate rating
- Units built to keep heating in deep cold cost more than basic models, but they matter if the mini-split is your main heat.
- Electrical capacity
- The outdoor unit needs a dedicated circuit. Older panels with no open space can add to the job, and we flag that during the walkthrough.
Mini-split questions we hear often
Something not covered here? (509) 210-6959
Will a mini-split keep my home warm in January?
A cold-climate model sized correctly will keep heating well below freezing. We check the low-temperature rating against how the room loses heat. Some families keep baseboards or a stove as backup for the coldest stretches, and we will tell you honestly whether you need one.
How long does installation take?
Most single-zone installs take one day, and multi-zone systems often take two. We put the expected timeline on your written quote. If a supplier delay pushes the date, we call you as soon as we know and offer the next workable day.
Can you help with rebates?
Yes. Since a mini-split is a heat pump, it can be eligible for Avista rebates and federal tax credits, and we help you file for them. Eligibility depends on the specific equipment and program rules at the time, so we go over which models qualify before you choose.
Who stands behind the work if something goes wrong?
Our company is licensed and bonded in Washington. We also hold $1M general liability insurance, so you are not exposed if something is damaged during the job. Mini-split repairs come with our 1-year labor warranty on all repairs.
What if my mini-split quits in the middle of the night?
We offer 24/7 emergency HVAC repair, with no emergency or after-hours fees. The diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair, and we explain what failed before we fix it.
What maintenance does a ductless system need?
Pull out and wash the indoor filters about once a month when the system is working hard. Once a year a technician should clean the coils, blower wheel and drain line so the heads keep moving air and stay free of mold. Our Maintenance Plans cover that yearly visit along with priority scheduling.
