ServicesAC Installation

AC Installation in Garfield, WA

We size a new air conditioner to your home, put the price in writing and give you an install date you can plan around. If a part or delivery slips, you hear it from us before the day comes, not when the crew fails to show.

Your new AC, planned step by step

A new air conditioner makes sense when the current one breaks down often, runs on an outdated refrigerant or your home never had one. It is also worth considering if the furnace is being replaced, because the two systems share the work and are often paired.

First we come out to take measurements, check the equipment you have and hear how you use each room. Then you receive a written quote and an install date. Installation and replacement estimates are free, and the written quote always comes before the work.

What most homeowners want is a system that fits the house and a clear idea of when the job happens. We cover both in plain terms and update you along the way, so nothing is left to guesswork.

What comes with your new AC

Sizing by calculation

Square footage, insulation, windows and sun exposure all go into choosing the size. An oversized unit cools quickly but stops before it removes humidity, leaving rooms clammy. An undersized one falls behind every hot afternoon.

Taking out the old unit

We properly recover refrigerant from the old system and haul the equipment off, so no dead condenser is left beside your house.

Pad, refrigerant lines and wiring

The outdoor unit sits on a level pad with the right clearance. We hook up or replace the refrigerant lines, install the disconnect and make sure the circuit fits the new unit's needs.

Setting up the thermostat

We wire your existing thermostat or put in a new one, then program it with you so the schedule matches your household's routine.

Permit and inspection

We take care of the permit and set up the inspection, so the work meets code and is on record.

First run and testing

Before leaving, we verify refrigerant charge, airflow and temperature drop, and show you how to handle filters and simple upkeep.

Clues that a new air conditioner is due

The unit has reached 12 to 15 years
Efficiency drops a little more each summer on an older system. When a costly repair hits an aging unit, replacing it is often the better use of money.
One repair after another
Called for AC repair more than once over the past couple of summers? We will give you an honest side-by-side of repair costs and replacement.
Your system runs on R-22
R-22 is no longer manufactured, so recharging an older unit becomes harder and costlier every year.
Rooms that stay hot
Bedrooms upstairs sitting at 80 degrees while the living room feels chilly can mean the system was too small from day one.
Summer bills keep rising
When a unit has to work harder to keep you just as cool, the monthly cost climbs, most of all during a hot, dry eastern Washington July.

How your installation day runs

  1. 1

    Free estimate visit

We set an arrival window that works for you, measure your home and look at the existing equipment. You get options with plain explanations, not a sales pitch.

  2. 2

Written quote and a firm date

Your quote lists the equipment and the work line by line. Once you approve it, we order the unit and book your install date.

  3. 3

    Updates before the day

We confirm the day before with your arrival window. If a delivery is late or the weather turns, we call you right away with a new plan.

  4. 4

    Installation

A straight replacement usually takes one day. We lay down floor protection, remove the old unit, set the new one and clean up as we go.

  5. 5

    Startup and walkthrough

We test the system, show you the thermostat and answer your questions. Then we schedule the inspection and let you know the date.

What moves the price of your installation

We price each installation only after we have seen your home and the equipment already in it. The written quote spells out the unit and the labor, and nothing gets added later without a conversation with you first.

System size
Larger homes need more cooling capacity, which means a bigger and more costly unit. Right-sizing keeps you from paying for capacity you will not use.
SEER2 efficiency
A more efficient unit has a higher purchase price but trims your power bill every summer after. We lay out both sides so you can decide what pays off for you.
Electrical and site work
An older panel, a new circuit or a fresh pad all add to the job. We point these out during the estimate, not on install day.
Existing equipment
Reusing a sound line set and indoor coil can lower the cost. If they are worn or incompatible with the new refrigerant, replacing them is included in your quote.
Timing
Booking in spring or early fall gives you more choice of dates than the first heat wave of summer.

What homeowners ask before a new AC goes in

How long is the installation?
Replacing a system you already have usually wraps up in one day. A first-time central air install, or a home that needs electrical work, can run into a second day. Your quote spells out which one you're looking at.
Is there a charge for the estimate?
There isn't. We price installations and replacements for free. You get the quote in writing before anything starts, and you don't owe us a yes.
What happens if the equipment arrives late?
The moment we learn about a delay, we phone you, explain it and book a new day. Nobody sits at home for a crew that isn't coming.
Would a heat pump make more sense than central air?
For a lot of homes, it can. A single outdoor unit cools the house in summer and covers much of the heating in winter. Heat pumps may also earn Avista rebates and federal tax credits, and we help you with the claim paperwork. See our heat pumps page, or have us quote both options next to each other.
What licensing and insurance do you have?
We hold a Washington license and bond, and $1M in general liability insurance covers us while we work at your house. We pull the installation permit too, so the job is inspected and on file.
Do you do installs beyond Garfield?
Yes. We also install in Colfax, Pullman, Moscow, Cheney and Clarkston, and every town gets the same scheduling and updates.
